I’m so very pleased that Judge Dana M. Douglas was confirmed this week on a 65-31 vote to fill the seat being vacated by Judge James L. Dennis’s decision to take senior status. Judge Dennis held that seat for more than 27 years, and was a tireless, extraordinarily hard-working, and intellectually rigorous jurist, characteristics that he brought with him to the Fifth Circuit from two decades on the Louisiana Supreme Court. I was honored to clerk for him in 2000-2001. But I was just as honored to share my thoughts in support of Judge Douglas’s nomination with the Senate Judiciary Committee last summer, as well as with Bloomberg News this week.
