Chief Judge Elrod, during a panel at the excellent Appellate Advocacy Seminar put on by the Bar Association of the Fifth Federal Circuit today, announced that senior-status Judge E. Grady Jolly has now taken senior inactive status. This may be reflected in the recent opinion statistics, in which there have been no decisions in September or in October (to date) where Judge Jolly has been on the panel. Judge Jolly has served on the Fifth Circuit since being nominated by President Reagan and being confirmed in 1982, initially taking senior status in 2017. And since that time he has been a very active member of the Circuit’s senior-status bench.
